Kilimanjaro Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Londorossi Gate to Forest Camp

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will meet your guide and crew for a transfer to Lemosho Gate, the starting point of the Lemosho Route. After completing the necessary park formalities, your hike begins through the vibrant forest on the way to Forest Camp. The trail is relatively easy and provides stunning views of the surrounding rainforest, where you will spend the night at Forest Camp.

Meet the guide and crew at the airport and transfer to Lemosho Gate, the starting point of the Lemosho Route.
After completing park formalities, the hike starts through the lush forest towards the Forest Camp. The trail is relatively easy and offers beautiful views of the rainforest.

Destination: Forest Camp (2,800 meters)

Day 2

Hike from Forest Camp to Shira 1 Camp (3550m)

Today’s hike takes you through the montane forest and onto the Shira Plateau, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the mountain before settling in for an overnight stay at Shira 1 Camp.

Day 3

Hike from Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut (4200m)

The trail traverses the Shira Plateau and gradually rises toward Moir Hut, offering breathtaking views of the western breach, Kibo, and the southern ice fields along the journey. You will spend the night at Moir Hut.

Destination: Moir Hut (4,200 meters)

Day 4

Hike from Moir Hut to Barranco Camp (3950m)

Today you will cross the Lava Tower and then make your way down to the Barranco Camp. The descent is steep but the breathtaking view of Kibo and the southeastern ice fields makes it all worthwhile. You will spend the night at Barranco Camp.

Starting Point: Moir Hut (4,200 meters)
Destination: Barranco Camp (3,950 meters)
Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
Distance: 7 km
Highlights: Ascend to Lava Tower (4,600 meters) and descend to Barranco Camp, passing through the beautiful Barranco Valley.

Day 5

Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley (4050m)

The trail today is relatively easy, leading you through the Karanga Valley and up to Karanga Camp. This valley provides an excellent opportunity for acclimatization while offering breathtaking views of the southern ice fields and the Breach Wall. Enjoy your overnight stay in the serene Karanga Valley.

Destination: Karanga Camp (4,035 meters)

Distance: 5 km
Highlights: Climb the Barranco Wall and trek through the Karanga Valley.

Day 6

Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp (4650m)

The trail today leads you to the base of Kibo and Barafu Camp, situated on a saddle between the two peaks. The hike is steep, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding glaciers and the southern ice fields. You will spend the night at Barafu Camp.

Starting Point: Karanga Camp (4,035 meters)
Destination: Barafu Camp (4,640 meters)
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Distance: 4 km
Highlights: Reach the base camp, prepare for the summit attempt.

Day 7

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5895m) to Mweka Camp

Today is the day to reach the summit of Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. The hike begins at midnight, and the trail is steep and challenging as it takes you around the rim of the Crater and up to the summit. After you reach the summit, you will start your descent toward Mweka Camp, nestled in the lush rainforest where you will stay overnight.

Summit: Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters)
Descent: Mweka Camp (3,100 meters)
Hiking Time: 10-14 hours
Distance: 19 km (ascent and descent)
Highlights: Summit attempt, breathtaking sunrise at the peak, and a challenging descent.
